Most marketing websites should be built on WordPress, with WooCommerce if you’re selling products. It’s well-understood, your team can edit it, and built properly it performs well. We reach for Laravel when WordPress stops being a sensible fit such as bespoke business logic, customer portals, internal tools, SaaS products, complex integrations, or anything where “it’s a content/marketing site” stops being true. We work fluently in both as they are both PHP at their core, so the recommendation is based on what your project actually needs rather than what we’d rather build. If you’re not sure which camp you’re in, that’s what the discovery conversation is for.

Most of our WordPress builds run 8–12 weeks. Laravel applications typically run 3–6 months but those timeline can somewhat be taken with a pinch of salt. The project specification will determine the timeline, we have delivered small 1-2 page marketing sites in a couple of days, whereas other projects have taken 12 months+ The biggest variable in either case is content and decisions – projects slow down when copy isn’t ready, stakeholders haven’t aligned, or scope changes mid-build. We front-load the planning phase deliberately to avoid that: by the time we start building, design is signed off and structure is settled.

No. Page builders are great for getting something live quickly, but they come with a structural performance cost – bloated markup, unused CSS, layout shifts – that makes hitting 90+ Core Web Vitals genuinely difficult. We build custom themes against our internal DevKit framework, which gives us the speed of starting from a known foundation with the control of bespoke. But it’s important to note all of our sites include comprehensive customer control (content management) built in. For our marketing sites, Gutenberg is most commonly used as the core builder but populated with all our custom modules/components – importantly we will also provide training and support.

Yes – and we regularly do. A significant share of our long-term retainer clients came to us with an existing codebase from a previous developer or agency, and we’ve picked up, supported, and extended those projects ever since. Every takeover starts with an audit. We’ll need to see the code and understand how things have been built so we can give you a realistic view of how the transition will go. A clean handover from the previous developers is always the smoother route but we appreciate that isn’t always possible, and we’re set up to work without one when it isn’t. Beyond that, we’re a team of experienced developers and site managers working across numerous technologies and codebases every day, so there isn’t much we can’t get our heads around once we’re in.

Yes. Most clients move onto a monthly retainer after launch covering hosting, security updates, plugin and dependency maintenance, performance monitoring, and a block of development hours for ongoing improvements. We treat launch as the start of the relationship rather than the end of the project – websites need looking after. Retainers are optional but strongly recommended.
